² To empower our students with ever-improving capabilities in enhancing their language proficiency for study, work, pleasure, and personal growth.
² To arouse students’ interest in learning by offering an authentic and enjoyable language-rich environment, as well as diversified life-wide learning experiences.
² To foster good reading habits and self-directed learning skills, equipping students to be independent readers and lifelong learners.
² To nurture students’ positive values and generic skills required to cope with the changing needs of society.
2. Highlights:
With a group of committed and professional teachers, our school has developed a school-based English curriculum that boosts the four essential language skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, as well as generic skills and positive values.
Ø Development of Text Sets Programme (DTS)
This scheme adopts an inquire-based approach. Our projects encompass a variety of themes such as family, animals, sustainable development and invention. The projects feature self-directed learning, extensive reading, critical literacy, 21st century skills, information literacy, design thinking and positive values.
Ø School-based Literacy Programme
To strengthen the English competence of P.1 - P.3 students, a school-based literacy programme has been established. Through a tailor-made phonics programme, shared-reading, guided-reading, the integration of e-learning and other fun-filled activities, students’ language learning has been taken to the next level.
Ø English Language Teaching Assistant Scheme (ELTA)
ELTA Scheme is implemented in P.4 - P.6 to enhance students’ speaking and listening abilities in an enjoyable and authentic way. Through pair conversations, group discussions and individual presentations on diverse topics, students are provided with ample opportunities to practise communicating their ideas in English.
Ø Co-curricular English Activities
A variety of English co-curricular activities are arranged to further enhance students’ language proficiency and increase their confidence in using English for meaningful purposes. For instance, we organise festive activities, recess activities English Challenge, English Day, English Debate Team, English Ambassador Team and intra-school competitions.
